Hi, I am Hemen Kapadia, a software engineer currently working as an IT Analyst for Tata Consultancy Services.

This site provides access to utilities like Getbhavcopy and Jerminder I create during my spare time. I share a few technical tutorials explaining issues I struggled figuring out. I also share some personal information about me, some pictures I took and my contact information.

Getbhavcopy version 2.0.2 released

A new version of Getbhavcopy has been released. This is a minor version update that addresses to fix the following issues:

• Fixed whitespace in the Open, High, Low and Close columns in the downloaded bhavcopy file for NSE Indices
• Added a 0 (zero) value in the Open Interest column of the downloaded bhavcopy file for NSE Indices.
• Added facilty to download additional BSE indices (CONSDURBL, CAPGOODS and HLTHCARE) which were not downloaded by version 2.0.1.
• Changed Paypal donation link in Getbhavcopy to point to ChipIn. Also changed the donation amount from the fixed 7$ to a variable amount. I prefer that 4 out of 10 users donate 2$ or 3$ rather than to have all 10 think that 7$ is too high for donating for my effort.
• Added a new 'Help' button in the "Options" tab that links to Getbhavcopy options tab documentation.
• Fixed links in the "About Getbhavcopy" tab to poiint to appropriate page on www.getbhavcopy.com.

Installation Instructions:

• Download the zip file
• Extract the zip file and replace the old getbhavcopy.exe file with this new one.

Getbhavcopy version 2.0.1 released

This is a minor version update to Getbhavcopy 2.0. This version adds the following features

• Provide Metastock header in output file to resolve the 'Enter Ticker Symbol' issue encountered when importing BSE data to Metastock.
• Redesigned GUI for high DPI setting of Windows Vista. Both 96 and 120 DPI settings are supported.

Getbhavcopy version 1.4.1 will be discontinued

On the request of few users I had re-enabled Getbhavcopy version 1.4.1. This was to give some users time to upgrade to version 2.0 and to download the latest version of .NET. I will discontinue this version on 15-Feb-2009, so you will not be able to download data with it after that.

Users using this version are requested to upgrade to Getbhavcopy ver 2.0.1 by that time.

Getbhavcopy version 2.0 released

After the success of Getbhavcopy version 1.0 to version 1.4.1, I am releasing the next update of Getbhavcopy.

This is a major version update to 2.0, rather than to version 1.5, because of the following reasons:

• Added BSE EOD and Indices data download facility
• Added NSE Open Interest (i.e. Deliverable Quantity) data download facility for all Equity stocks
• Added series parsing options to download equity data other then 'EQ' series
• Download equity symbols for all NSE Indices. Earlier versions supported Nifty and Nifty Junior only
• Calculate volume for all NSE Indices. Earlier versions supported Nifty and Nifty Junior only
• Complete redesign using Object Oriented concepts. Complete rewrite of the code.
• The redesign will help in faster addition of new features.

Jreminder version 1.1.0 released

Jreminder is a free annual event reminder software I created for my personal use. Since it turned out to be pretty good I decided to share it with others.

Jreminder reminds you of upcoming annual events like birthdays, anniversaries i.e. events that occur on the same date each year. It starts reminding you of the upcoming event few days before the actual date to help you plan in advance. Use it to ensure you dont forget a birthday, anniversary or an important event in the life of those that matter to you.

Configuring Tata Indicom (VSNL) Broadband connection on RedHat Linux.

It took me some time to figure out how to set up my Tata Indicom (VSNL) Broadband (basically any PPPOE) connection on Linux. A search on google did not help with any easy to follow tutorial. So I decided to write a tutorial once I figured that out.

Configure PPPOE internet connection on linux is a result of that effort.
