About me

I am Hemen Kapadia from Mumbai, India. I have done my Bachelors in Computer Engineering from SAKEC, Mumbai University. Currently I am working with Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. as an Assistant Systems Engineer. On second thoughts providing details about me in a chronological order will be much better, so read on ........

I have been raised in Mumbai(Bombay). I did my schooling till S.S.C. in St. Thomas High School, Goregaon. Recollecting the fun I have had with my friends in those days really makes me yearn to live that life once again. Once done with my schooling, I joined Patkar College (this one is in Goregaon too). I opted for Science stream as I always wanted to be a computer engineer (Well not always, till I came to 6th class I wanted to be an IAF pilot. This long cherished dream sublimed like camphor when I laid my hands on a computer). I was so much fascinated by it (specially the games we could play) that I decided to take up computer engineering. Though most of you would think that I was too small to make such a decision (6th grade) but believe me this is the truth. After SYJC I joined Shah and Anchor Kuttchhi Engineering College (SAKEC). Once admitted I thought I have achieved my dream, but hey buddy..not so fast; there were still eight gruesome semesters to clear before I finally get the degree. Well eventually I did clear them all with a first class.

I passed out in 2001, not a great year to pass out as a Computer Engineer as there was a dearth of job opportunities due to recession. The period from when I passed out from SAKEC to when I joined TCS was a bit tough one. Those difficulties have helped me in becoming a better and more mature human being. During that time I was working in a small company called Softcare Solutions. I learnt a lot at my first job. Interacting with clients, gathering their requirements, designing and coding the software in VB.Net to testing. Well I handled it all. Joined that company as the first employee, and finally took it to a stage when there were six more people working with me. I had immense job satisfaction, of creating something that others will use. But then as in life there are always two sides of a coin. I was earning peanuts out there. Ok...so...sometimes you need to accept things that come your way and wait for better opportunities. Nevertheless it was a great experience at Softcare and will always be cherished.

My big break came in November 2003, when I joined TCS. Since than life has been cool and stable. Since my engineering days I had a flare for Unix/Linux and because my current job responsibilities are related to that I have no grudges.

My hobbies include computer programming, reading some fictional novels etc. I am also an avid trekker and have been trekking to many forts in Maharashtra. You can checkout my photo album to know more about places I have been. I like to spend a quite evening with my wife (a gem of a woman) having dinner, or out shopping (obviously for her).
